Bhubaneswar: Madhusmita Patro, an inspiring woman from Berhampur, Odisha, has made headlines by becoming the first female from her state to conquer three formidable peaks in Nepal: Mount Mera, Mount Island, and Mount Lobuche.

At 30 years old, Patro, who works as a software engineer, has nurtured her love for mountaineering since childhood. Her impressive climbing resume includes summiting Kilimanjaro and Mount Elbrus. She achieved the climbs of Mount Mera on April 29, Mount Island on May 5, and Lobuche on May 9, as reported.

In addition to these peaks, she successfully navigated two challenging passes: Amphu Lapcha and Kongma La. Looking ahead, Patro expressed her ambition to tackle a 7,000-meter peak and aims to summit Mount Everest by 2027. Balancing her career and passion is tough, as she prefers to save her leave for her climbing expeditions rather than taking regular time off.

Patro shared, “Mountaineering is incredibly demanding, so I dedicate five to six hours daily to training. My family has been a constant source of support, and my coach is a vital pillar in my journey.”
