MCD Begins Budget Preparation for Upcoming Fiscal Years
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has commenced the process of finalizing revised budget estimates for the fiscal years 2025-26 and 2026-27. A special meeting of the standing committee was convened for this purpose, where the heads of various regional committees presented their budget proposals. According to a press release from the MCD, budget proposals were submitted from areas including City-Sadar, Paharganj, West, Central, Keshavpuram, Civil Lines, Rohini, Karol Bagh, South, Najafgarh, Shahdara North, Shahdara South, and Narela.
The chairperson of the standing committee, Saty Sharma, emphasized the importance of incorporating suggestions from all sectors to create a budget that is both beneficial to the public and practical. She highlighted that the budget is not merely a document of income and expenditure but serves as a guiding framework for the city's development, addressing the expectations and needs of its citizens. Furthermore, she stated that it is essential to reduce financial deficits by increasing revenue through various means, ensuring that adequate budgetary provisions for development projects can be made without imposing additional financial burdens on the corporation.
