Mayawati's Strong Remarks Against SP's Caste Politics

The national president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati, sharply criticized the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Saturday for its so-called 'Brahmin love.' She accused the SP of frequently changing its stance like a chameleon to serve its narrow casteist political interests and electoral gains.

In a post on 'X', Mayawati stated, 'The BSP operates on the principles of welfare for all and happiness for all, being a party that advocates for the interests of the entire society. Our four terms in government in Uttar Pradesh were based on this ideology, while the SP is openly known for its narrow casteist politics and electoral opportunism, constantly shifting its colors like a chameleon.'

She raised questions regarding the SP's 'PDA' formula, explaining that the SP previously defined 'P' in PDA as 'backward' but has now changed it to 'Pandit' due to the BSP's growing connection with the Brahmin community and the nomination of candidates from that background. This, she claimed, is a clear example of their political deceit.

On August 5, during a program commemorating the late Janeshwar Mishra, SP leader Akhilesh Yadav stated that in the PDA formula, 'P' stands for 'Pandit.' Mayawati sarcastically remarked, 'Such deceptive politics may benefit an individual temporarily, but it can never benefit society as a whole.'

She urged the people of all communities to remain cautious of the SP's deceptive tactics and its narrow casteist politics, emphasizing that this is a demand of the times and in the best interest of society.
