Imphal Rally Calls for Justice

On Sunday, a significant number of individuals gathered in Imphal to voice their outrage over a recent bombing incident in Bishnupur district that resulted in the deaths of two young children.

The demonstration was organized by Uripok Apunba Lup and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup, a coalition of various local organizations from the Uripok area. The march commenced at Lamboikhongnangkhong and spanned approximately 4 kilometers.

Khwairakpam Tarunkumar, the vice president of Uripok Apunba Lup, expressed to the media, "Our protest aims to urge the National Investigation Agency to expedite their inquiry into the tragic deaths of the two children in Tronglaobi, and to ensure that those responsible face appropriate legal consequences."

Many children participated in the rally, carrying signs that read, "We demand justice; we condemn the killing of children."

The tragic event occurred on April 7, when a five-year-old boy and his six-month-old sister lost their lives after suspected militants launched a bomb at their residence in Tronglaobi.

Following the attack, a crowd of approximately 500 individuals descended upon a CRPF camp near Gelmol, just a short distance from Tronglaobi, leading to acts of vandalism and the destruction of security vehicles.

During the subsequent clash, three protesters were killed, and around 30 others sustained injuries.
