On Wednesday, Indian shooter Manu Bhaker secured fifth place in the women's 10m air pistol individual final during the Asian Games 2026, accumulating a score of 181.1 points before her elimination after the 18th shot. The 24-year-old athlete qualified for the finals in third place with a score of 579-20x. Unfortunately, she was eliminated after scoring 9.6 on her 18th shot. Bhaker had a slow start in the qualification round, beginning with a score of 95 but rebounded strongly with scores of 96, 96, and 98, as reported by ESPN.

South Korea's Choo Gaeun clinched the gold medal with a record-setting score of 246.3 points, while China's Shen Yiyao took home the silver with 241.3 points. Jiang Ranxin from China earned the bronze medal with a score of 221.6 points.

Team Performance in Women's 10m Air Pistol

Bhaker's fifth-place finish followed a narrow miss for India's women's 10m air pistol team, which ended up in fourth place, just two inner-10 shots away from the podium. Esha Singh finished 16th in the qualification round with a score of 572 points, while Suruchi Singh placed 26th with 568 points.

Updates from Sepaktakraw and Fencing

In other competitions, the Indian men's team in sepaktakraw triumphed over the Philippines with a score of 2-1 in Group B but did not qualify for the next round. In fencing, Karan Singh and Gisho Nidhi Kumaresan progressed to the Round of 32 in the men's individual sabre event. Kumaresan finished third in his pool of six, while Karan placed fifth in his pool of five. Kumaresan is set to compete against Laos' Quentin Goeffroy, while Karan will face China's Shaotong Luo in their respective Round of 32 matches later on Wednesday.

Water Sports Action

On Day 4 of the Games, Indian athletes showcased their skills across various water sports disciplines. In rowing, Balraj Panwar secured third place in his men's single sculls heat and fourth overall, qualifying for the final. The duo of Satnam Singh and Salman Khan finished second in their men's doubles sculls heat, also advancing to the final.

In canoe sprint, the team of Harshwardhan Shaktawat, Varinder Singh, L Naocha Singh Oinam, and Arun Singh finished third in the men's kayak four 500m heat, qualifying for the final. Megha Pradeep placed fifth in the women's canoe single 200m heats, moving on to the semifinals.

In swimming, Benedicton Beniston finished fourth in his men's 100m butterfly heat and 13th overall, missing the final. Sajan Prakash did not start, and both missed out on qualification. Vedaant Madhavan and Aneesh Sunil finished sixth and fourth, respectively, in their men's 200m freestyle heats, with their qualification status still pending.

Jaswinder Singh and Nitin Kumar finished fourth in the men's pair heats, advancing to Final B. Additionally, India's women's four rowing team, consisting of Gurbani Kaur, Aleena Anto, Tendenthoi Haobijam, and Poonam, also participated in the heats.

Looking Forward

As the Games progress, India's men's badminton team, which has already secured a medal, is set to face China in the semifinals, aiming for a spot in the final. Wushu athlete Roshibina Devi will also strive to reach the final of her event on Wednesday.
