Manu Bhaker and Samrat Rana Secure Silver at ISSF World Cup

In a thrilling finale at the ISSF World Cup in Munich, Indian shooters Manu Bhaker and Samrat Rana narrowly missed out on gold, finishing with a silver medal in the 10m air pistol mixed event. The duo showcased remarkable skills, overcoming early challenges to close the gap against the leading Chinese team. Despite their impressive performance, they fell short by just 0.3 points. India finished second in the overall medal tally, highlighting the nation's strong presence in shooting sports. Indian Duo Shines in Munich

Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker and world champion Samrat Rana clinched the silver medal in the 10m air pistol mixed event at the ISSF World Cup held in Munich. They were narrowly defeated by the Chinese team, consisting of World No. 1 and defending champions Yao Qianxun and Hu Kai, finishing just 0.3 points behind.


The competition took place on Saturday, marking the conclusion of the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol. India finished second in the overall medal standings, securing four medals—two gold and two silver—while China topped the chart with four gold and three bronze medals.


Exciting Final Round

Manu and Samrat began the final with a slow pace, scoring 100.0 after their initial five shots, placing them third among the four finalists. Samrat scored 51.0, while Manu managed 49.0. However, Manu found her rhythm in the second series, achieving a score of 51.5, and Samrat's 49.9 propelled them into second place, as reported by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI).


By the end of the third series, the Indian duo had reduced the Chinese lead to just 0.1 points, with Manu scoring an impressive 51.8 and Samrat contributing 50.7.


In the first elimination series, both shooters gained a significant 2.2-point advantage, with Manu scoring 30.9 and Samrat 30.5, while the Chinese pair faltered with scores of 29.7 and 29.4.


Samrat scored 31.2 in the subsequent elimination series, but Manu struggled with scores of 9.3 and 8.8 on her 19th and 20th shots, allowing the Chinese team to catch up. By the end of the 21st shot, the Indian lead had vanished, and Yao and Hu took a 0.2-point lead. Shen Yihao and Bu Shuaihang from China secured the bronze medal after this series.


Manu began the final series with a score of 10.6, but Samrat could only manage an 8.8, widening the gap for the Chinese pair. Although Yao shot an 8.7 on her 23rd shot, Hu Kai compensated with three high 10s. The Indian pair managed to reduce the lead by 0.3 points, ultimately confirming their silver medal.


Other Indian Performances

In the qualification round, the second Indian pair, Suruchi Singh and Shravan Kumar, finished in tenth place with a combined score of 575-20x, where Suruchi scored 291-11x and Shravan 284-9x.


Earlier in the day, both Indian rifle pairs failed to qualify for the medal rounds. Elavenil Valarivan and Arjun Babuta ended in 14th place with a total score of 630.0, while Arya Borse and Shahu Tushar Mane finished 16th with a score of 629.6.


The gold medal in the rifle event was claimed by the Chinese pair Wang Zifei and Sheng Lihao, with Norway's Jeanette Hegg Duestad and Jon-Hermann Hegg taking silver, and another Chinese duo, Han Jiayu and Ma Sihan, securing bronze.
