Historic Achievement in Hockey

The Indian men's hockey team made history by successfully defending their Asian Games gold medal, achieving this feat for the first time with back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2026. This victory marked the fifth gold medal for India in men's hockey at the Asian Games, following earlier wins in 1966, 1998, 2014, and 2022. Notably, this was also the first occasion where both the men's and women's hockey teams from India secured gold medals in the same Asian Games edition. With this accomplishment, hockey joined kabaddi and cricket as the only Indian team sports to achieve a double-gold finish at the continental level.
