Government's Strong Stance on Violence

The Chief Minister of Manipur, Y. Khemchand Singh, has made a significant statement asserting that the government will not overlook these atrocities. This declaration follows the recovery of the bodies of six Naga men who had been abducted by armed groups in the Kangpokpi district. These individuals were reportedly taken from Leilon Waifei village on May 13.

In an official statement, Singh emphasized that the state government will not tolerate such acts of violence and assured that those responsible for the murders will be apprehended and punished according to the law.

Details of the Incident

The bodies were discovered a day after the release of 14 Kuki individuals who had been kidnapped nearly a month earlier from the Senapati district on June 9. The Manipur police reported on social media that approximately 450 personnel from the Manipur police, CRPF, and Assam Rifles conducted a continuous search operation for about 24 hours, aided by sniffer dogs and forensic experts, leading to the recovery of the six bodies.

It is believed that these remains belong to the individuals who were taken hostage on May 13, 2026, from Leilon Waifei.

Condemnation of the Violence

Reports indicate that the abduction of the six Naga men and 14 Kuki individuals occurred following the murder of three church leaders in Kangpokpi district on May 13. In a separate post on social media, the Chief Minister expressed his sorrow over the brutal killings of the six innocent Naga villagers abducted from Leilon Waifei, extending his heartfelt condolences to the affected families.

Singh condemned this heinous act and reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring that the perpetrators face justice. The investigation into this case is being conducted by the NIA.
