Investigation into Tronglaobi Bombing Assigned to National Agency
On April 7, the Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, announced that the state government has decided to hand over the investigation of the bomb attack in Tronglaobi to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The explosion, which occurred early Tuesday, resulted in the tragic deaths of two children. During a press conference at his official residence, the Chief Minister condemned the attack, labeling it as an act by individuals or groups aiming to disrupt peace in the state. According to a statement released by the Chief Minister's office, this decision was made after extensive discussions with the Home Minister and other legislators.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that the attackers have not yet been identified, and confirmed that a comprehensive search operation is underway. He stated that joint security forces, including the state police, Assam Rifles, and CRPF, have been deployed with the assistance of helicopters. He assured that the criminals would be apprehended as soon as possible. A high-level security review meeting was held with representatives from the army, Assam Rifles, state police, and CRPF, following which directives were issued to expedite the operation and take swift action.
The Chief Minister urged the public to remain calm, avoid emotional reactions, cooperate with security operations, and support efforts to restore normalcy. Manipur's Home Minister, Konthoujam Govindas Singh, described certain elements as peace disruptors who attempt to worsen the situation when improvements occur. During the high-level security meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, he instructed security officials to conduct search operations to capture those responsible for the Tronglaobi explosion, either dead or alive.

The Home Minister further elaborated that, according to the information provided in the statement, state commandos have been redeployed in hilly areas after a long time, and operations have been made more effective using bulletproof vehicles. He also reported that five individuals were injured by gunfire during an attempt by protesters to storm a CRPF camp in Bishnupur district that morning; two of the injured later succumbed to their wounds, while several other protesters sustained minor injuries.
