Manipur CM Reviews Progress of Imphal Railway Station Construction

Manipur's Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh recently inspected the construction of the Imphal Railway Station and the Jiribam–Tupul–Imphal railway project. He reviewed the progress and emphasized the importance of timely execution and quality standards. The project aims to enhance connectivity and economic growth in the region, with a completion target set for December 2028. Singh's visit included an assessment of critical engineering components, highlighting the government's commitment to monitoring this vital infrastructure initiative.

Imphal, April 15: Chief Minister of Manipur, Y Khemchand Singh, recently conducted a thorough inspection of the ongoing construction at the Imphal Railway Station located in Yurembam, Imphal West district. He also evaluated the progress of the 111-km Jiribam–Tupul–Imphal railway project on Tuesday.


During his visit, officials from the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) provided Singh and his team with updates regarding the construction status, challenges faced, and upcoming milestones for the project.


The Chief Minister emphasized the significance of timely project execution, recognizing its potential to enhance connectivity and economic development in Manipur.


"While the overall progress is commendable, I have instructed to accelerate the pace of work to meet the established deadlines," he shared on social media.


According to officials, the Jiribam–Tupul–Imphal railway project is expected to be completed by December 2028.


Once operational, this railway link will directly connect the state capital to the national railway network, revolutionizing transportation in the area.


Singh also visited Tunnel No. 12 at Sangaithel, a crucial engineering feature of the project, where he evaluated the construction quality and engaged with engineers to discuss the tunneling progress.


Stressing the project's strategic importance, Singh highlighted the necessity of maintaining construction quality while adhering to timelines.


"All involved agencies have been instructed to uphold strict quality standards and ensure effective coordination for timely completion. The Government is dedicated to closely monitoring this essential infrastructure project, which will greatly improve connectivity and foster socio-economic growth in Manipur," he stated.


Accompanying Singh were MLAs Dr. Sapam Ranjan (Konthoujam AC) and Sorokhaibam Rajen (Lamsang AC), along with Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) Anurag Bajpai, Commissioner to the Chief Minister N. Ashok Kumar, Director of Transport Kh. Diana, and other senior officials.
