Manav Suthar Sets Record with Ten-Wicket Haul in Sri Lanka Test
Historic Achievement by Manav Suthar
Indian spin-bowling all-rounder Manav Suthar has made history by surpassing cricket legends Harbhajan Singh and Ravichandran Ashwin, achieving the best bowling figures by an Indian in Sri Lanka. He is now the third Indian bowler to claim a ten-wicket haul in the country, a feat he accomplished during the first Test match in Galle against Sri Lanka.
In the first innings, Suthar recorded impressive figures of 4/76, which included the crucial wicket of seasoned batter Dinesh Chandimal. His performance escalated in the second innings, where he took two early wickets and then dismantled Sri Lanka's lower order in just 10 balls, finishing with figures of 6/55. With a total of 10/131, he surpassed Harbhajan's 10/153 in Galle (2008) and Ashwin's 10/160 (2015), marking him as the Indian bowler with the best figures in Sri Lanka.

Despite Suthar's four wickets, Sri Lanka managed to score 284 runs, trailing by 178 runs.
In their second innings, Sri Lanka's bowlers performed well, restricting India to 193 runs, with Rishabh Pant (66 runs off 69 balls, with eight fours and two sixes), Devdutt Padikkal (44 runs off 75 balls, with six fours), and KL Rahul (35 runs off 47 balls, with two fours and two sixes) being the notable scorers. However, once Dinusha was dismissed, Suthar quickly dismantled the lower order, leading to Sri Lanka's total of 206 runs. Consequently, Sri Lanka lost the Test by 165 runs.
