Mamata Banerjee Responds to Centre's Diplomatic Mission on Terrorism

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has clarified that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has not been approached to nominate a member for the Centre's diplomatic mission aimed at addressing terrorism linked to Pakistan. She emphasized the party's support for national interests and stated that any nomination would require a formal request from the Centre. Banerjee's comments highlight the importance of party involvement in such decisions, asserting that the Centre cannot unilaterally decide on member nominations. This statement comes amid ongoing discussions about India's diplomatic strategies against terrorism.

Mamata Banerjee Addresses Diplomatic Mission Inquiry

On Monday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has not received any invitation to nominate a representative for the Centre's multi-party diplomatic initiative aimed at combating terrorism sponsored by Pakistan.

Banerjee remarked, "We have not received any request. If we had, we would have considered it. Our stance is in favor of the nation. We have consistently supported the Centre's foreign policy. Currently, we are backing the government's perspectives and actions. They cannot unilaterally decide on a member's name; that is the prerogative of the party. Should they approach us for a nomination, we will determine the name and communicate it to them. This does not imply that we are boycotting or refusing to participate."
