Mamata Banerjee Honors Atal Bihari Vajpayee on His 101st Birth Anniversary

On the 101st birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari paid their respects. Banerjee recalled Vajpayee's significant contributions to Indian politics, while Adhikari praised him as an exemplary leader. The day is also recognized as Good Governance Day by the central government, with the BJP in West Bengal organizing various events to honor his legacy. This tribute reflects the enduring impact of Vajpayee's leadership on Indian society.
 

Tribute to a Visionary Leader

On Thursday, Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the occasion of his 101st birthday. Vajpayee served as India's Prime Minister during three terms from 1996 to 2004, and Banerjee held the position of Minister of Railways and Coal in his cabinet.


In a post on social media platform 'X', Banerjee expressed her remembrance of Vajpayee, stating, 'I am remembering former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birthday.'


Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari also honored Vajpayee, describing him as an exceptional leader. He shared his tribute on 'X', saying, 'I pay my humble respects to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a symbol of Indian parliamentary politics and Bharat Ratna, on his birthday.'


He further remarked, 'An outstanding politician; a strong advocate for nation-first and development-oriented policies; a poet and a compelling speaker, Atal Bihari Vajpayee's contributions to nation-building will continue to inspire generations.'


Born in Gwalior in 1924, Vajpayee passed away on August 16, 2018, in New Delhi. The central government observes his birthday as Good Governance Day. The West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized several events to commemorate this occasion.
