Mamata Banerjee Criticizes Modi as 'Biggest Infiltrator' During Eid Address
Mamata Banerjee's Strong Remarks Against Modi
On Saturday, West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee labeled Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the "biggest infiltrator" while voicing her concerns regarding the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government's recent voter roll revisions.
Speaking to worshippers after Eid prayers at Kolkata's Red Road, Banerjee asserted her commitment to safeguarding citizens' voting rights from Modi and the BJP.
"When you travel abroad, you engage with leaders and promote friendship," Banerjee remarked. "That is your prerogative, and I respect all nations. However, upon your return to India, the Hindu-Muslim narrative emerges, and individuals are labeled as infiltrators."
Addressing the BJP's claims regarding illegal immigration in West Bengal, she stated, "You call for the removal of names and categorize people as infiltrators. I contend that you and your administration are the true infiltrators."
With the Assembly elections approaching next month, the Trinamool Congress has accused the special intensive revision of voter rolls of unjustly removing numerous legitimate voters, particularly from minority groups.
The Election Commission released an updated voter list for West Bengal on February 28, revealing that over 5.46 lakh names were deleted, while more than 60 lakh cases were marked as "under adjudication."
Banerjee also highlighted the deletion of many names from the voter list during her address on Saturday.
"I have sought intervention from the Calcutta High Court, Delhi, and even the Supreme Court regarding this matter," she informed the crowd at Red Road. "I remain hopeful that the rights of the people will be upheld. Even if no one stands with you, I will support the people of Bengal – regardless of religion, caste, or creed – as a member of your family."
She accused the BJP of attempting to seize control of the state government, asserting that her party would not be intimidated. "They [BJP] have removed everyone and intend to install their leaders in those roles. This is a party of thieves, robbers, and traitors," she declared.
Banerjee further alleged, "Some traitors have begun accepting money from the BJP to divide votes. Ultimately, what the Almighty wills will prevail, and nothing beyond that."
The West Bengal elections are scheduled for April 23 and April 29, with results to be announced on May 4.
