Mamata Banerjee Accuses BJP of Stripping Her Powers Amid Violence Claims

In a recent address, Mamata Banerjee accused the BJP of stripping her of her powers as Chief Minister and inciting violence during the Ram Navami celebrations in West Bengal. She emphasized Bengal's commitment to unity in diversity while condemning the BJP's tactics to create unrest ahead of the upcoming elections. Banerjee warned of severe consequences if the BJP gains power, highlighting the ongoing tensions in the state as the election dates approach. This situation raises significant concerns about the political climate in West Bengal as the assembly elections draw near.

Mamata Banerjee's Strong Allegations Against BJP

Mamata Banerjee has launched a fierce attack on the BJP, asserting that her powers as Chief Minister have been completely stripped away. "I am the elected Chief Minister, yet they have taken away all my authority," she stated. During her remarks in Murshidabad's Raghunathganj, she blamed the BJP for the violence that erupted on Ram Navami, saying, "Do not blame me. All my powers have been taken. All officials have been transferred. BJP members have been sent here, but they do not realize that victory will be ours. Riots were instigated in Raghunathganj, and they should be ashamed. These transfers were made to incite riots. Who gave you the right to vandalize shops? Who authorized you to create chaos in Raghunathganj? You will have to answer for all this."

Bengal's Unity and Inclusivity Under Threat

Banerjee emphasized that Bengal has always believed in the principle of unity in diversity. She described Bengal as a symbol of inclusivity and solidarity, adhering to the sacred principle of "religion for all, festivals for all." However, she asserted that Bengal will never tolerate violence and thuggery in the name of religion. She accused the BJP of using the banned commission to arbitrarily transfer senior government officials, thereby paralyzing the state administration. Furthermore, she claimed that the BJP is openly promoting violence and chaos across Bengal to create unrest ahead of the elections, as they have failed to win the hearts of the people. "We will not allow anyone to poison the atmosphere or disrupt our unity," she declared.

Violence Erupts During Ram Navami Procession

Violence broke out in Murshidabad during the Ram Navami procession, with reports of stone-pelting, vandalism, and arson emerging from various locations. The clashes occurred after a dispute over music during a large procession heading towards Mackenzie Park in Raghunathganj. Banerjee warned that if the BJP comes to power in the state, they would use bulldozers to evict people. She cautioned the BJP that the SIAR would be a death knell for them. The West Bengal state assembly elections are scheduled to take place in two phases on April 23 and 29, with the counting of votes set for May 4.
