In a shocking turn of events, police in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, have made a significant breakthrough in a theft case involving millions. The incident occurred in the upscale Shalimar colony, where a contractor's residence was targeted, resulting in the theft of valuable jewelry, cash, and a firearm. Investigations revealed that a local youth orchestrated the entire operation. Authorities have apprehended five suspects and initiated legal proceedings. Details of the Incident

On May 1, 2026, Ajay Kumar Singh reported a burglary at his home. He explained that he and his family were away from April 19 to April 30, during which unknown thieves broke into their locked house and made off with a licensed pistol, jewelry, and cash. Following the report, police registered a case and commenced an investigation. Under the direction of the police superintendent, teams were formed to advance the inquiry using surveillance and CCTV footage. By May 7, the police had arrested five suspects and revealed the details of the crime.

The Motive Behind the Theft

During questioning, it was discovered that the main suspect, Aakarsh Singh, had masterminded the entire scheme. Living directly across from the victim's house, he faced financial difficulties due to losses in his online credit business, prompting him to devise a plan for the burglary with his accomplices.

The Execution of the Theft

On the night of the incident, Aakarsh assigned his associate, Prithvi Pratap Singh, to keep watch from the roof while he entered the house to carry out the theft. After the crime, the stolen items were transported in an Audi car to a location with his accomplice Anurag. They planned to sell and melt the jewelry through other associates in Prayagraj.

Recovered Stolen Goods

The police successfully recovered stolen items valued at approximately 5 crores, including diamonds, gold and silver jewelry, a licensed pistol, nine live cartridges, and ₹14,85,000 in cash, along with the Audi used in the crime. A total of five suspects, including Aakarsh Singh, have been arrested, and further legal actions are underway.
