Significant Reshuffle in West Bengal Police Force

Kolkata: The government of West Bengal has initiated a substantial reshuffle within both the West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police, resulting in the transfer of 23 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in a single move.

As part of the new assignments, Devendra Prakash Singh, who served as the Additional Police Commissioner of Kolkata, has been appointed as the Inspector General (IG) of the Intelligence Branch (IB) in North Bengal.

Surya Pratap Yadav, previously the Joint Commissioner (Traffic) of Kolkata Police, will now take on the role of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the state police's IB.

Sparsha Nilangi, who was the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Enforcement Branch in Kolkata Police, has been reassigned as the DC of the Detective Department (DD) within the same police force.

According to the notification from the state home (police) department, Sudhir Kumar Neelkantam has been appointed as the new Additional Commissioner of Kolkata Police, having previously served as the IG of the Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal Police.

Bholanath Pandey has been designated as the new Joint Commissioner of Traffic for the city police, moving from his previous position as DIG of the state police's IB.

Sukhendu Hira, formerly the DIG (Security) of the state police, is now the Joint Commissioner (Security) of Kolkata Police. Neelu Sherpa has been appointed as the IG of the West Bengal Police Housing & Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBPHIDC), transitioning from her role as IG of the West Bengal Crime Records Bureau (WBCRB).

Shanka Shubhra Chakraborty, who was the IG of the West Bengal Police Home Guard, has now taken over as the new IG of the WBCRB.

Debarshi Dutta, the former DIG of WBPHIDC, has been assigned as the new Joint Commissioner of Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate.

Nima Narbu Bhutia, previously the Commanding Officer of the 10th Battalion of the West Bengal Armed Police Forces, will now serve as the Special Superintendent of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of West Bengal Police.

Dhritiman Sarkar, who was the Special Superintendent of the IB of the state police, has been appointed as the new Special Superintendent of CID in Malda district.

Purnima Sherpa has been named the new Additional Superintendent of Police for Kalimpong, while Abhishek Roy will take on the role of Additional Superintendent of Police for Birbhum.

Additionally, Manabendra Das has been appointed as the Additional Superintendent of Police for Mathabhanga, and Kunal Barnabas will serve as the new Additional Superintendent of Police for Malda Rural. The last four mentioned are officers from the West Bengal Police Service cadre.
