Major Operation Uncovers ISI-Linked Terror Network Targeting Delhi and Haryana
Delhi Police and Intelligence Agencies Disrupt Terror Network
In a significant operation, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police, along with central intelligence agencies, has dismantled a dangerous network associated with Pakistan's ISI and the Shahzad Bhatti module. Shocking revelations have emerged from the interrogation of nine suspects who were apprehended. The terrorists had a hit list that included religious sites in Delhi and busy highway dhabas.
Investigators revealed that a historic temple in Delhi was among the primary targets of this Pakistan-backed module. Reports indicate that one of the accused had conducted reconnaissance of the temple and shared images of the location with social media handlers based in Pakistan. Allegations suggest that the terrorist plot involved plans to attack police and paramilitary personnel stationed at the temple before targeting the religious site.
Famous Dhaba in Haryana Also Targeted
Sources further disclosed that a well-known dhaba located on the Delhi-Sonipat highway was also on their hit list. It is alleged that there were plans to launch a grenade attack at this dhaba, which attracts thousands of visitors daily, with the intent to cause mass destruction and instill fear.
Murthal, situated in Sonipat district of Haryana, is renowned for its dhabas along National Highway-44, which stretches from Delhi to Amritsar, frequented by countless travelers.
Military Camp and Police Stations Under Threat
Reports indicate that a military camp in Hisar was also targeted by this ISI-linked module. Allegations state that reconnaissance videos of the camp were sent to handlers operating from Pakistan.
Additionally, police personnel stationed at various police stations in Uttar Pradesh were also on the radar of this terrorist network. These revelations came to light a day after the Special Cell of the Delhi Police and central agencies arrested nine associates linked to the Shahzad Bhatti module across Delhi and several other states. A significant cache of weapons and objectionable materials was also seized during the operation.
NIA Files Charges in ISIS-Linked Bioterror Plot
On Tuesday, officials announced that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against three individuals, including a doctor, for their alleged involvement in a plot linked to ISIS. The accused were reportedly conspiring to spread a lethal biological toxin in public spaces.
The chargesheet was submitted to a special court in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, against the accused—Dr. Syed Ahmed Mohiuddin from Hyderabad, and Azad and Mohammad Suhail from Uttar Pradesh. According to the NIA, these individuals were acting under the direction of ISIS handlers based abroad. They systematically recruited vulnerable and radicalized youths to support jihad and spread terror using prohibited weapons and bioterrorism.
Investigators revealed that the accused planned to use ricin, a highly toxic substance derived from castor beans, to execute their terrorist plot. Due to its lethal nature, ricin is classified under Schedule I of the Chemical Weapons Convention.
