Significant Operation Against Naxal Activities

Raipur/Narayanpur, Feb 26: In a crucial operation targeting Naxal activities, Indo-Tibetan Border Police personnel, in collaboration with Narayanpur district police, uncovered a large stockpile of explosives, weapons, and other materials at a Maoist hideout located in the forested hills of Kumuradi village, Chhattisgarh.

This operation was executed on Wednesday (February 25) following reliable intelligence received by the team stationed at Camp Mandora, as reported by officials.

A meticulously coordinated Area Dominance Patrolling team initiated an extensive search in the dense terrain, which led to the discovery of a concealed Naxal cache. The joint forces acted promptly to secure the area and confiscate the items, thwarting their potential use by Maoist factions in the vicinity.

The recovered items included around 100 meters of prima cord, 20 meters each of safety and orange fuses, approximately 35 kilograms of 'sutli bombs' (crafted from jute twine), 38 kilograms of brown fertilizer powder, and 18 kilograms of improvised explosives. Additional findings comprised 2.5 kilograms of charcoal, five ammunition pouches, one improvised rocket launcher, 13 rocket launcher cells, 19 heavy mortar cells, 11 light mortar cells, one large improvised BGL launcher, one small improvised BGL (barrel grade launcher), along with various BGL cartridges in medium, small, and large sizes, totaling 35 pieces.

Moreover, security forces retrieved 70 long-range BGL rounds, 55 short-range BGL rounds, two improvised hand grenades, and ample medical supplies and medicines.

This haul underscores the Naxal groups' ability to fabricate modern and improvised weaponry, including components for rockets, mortars, and grenades, alongside essential materials for sustenance and medical assistance in remote areas.

The recovery signifies a substantial blow to the operational capabilities of Maoists in this region of Chhattisgarh, where such caches frequently act as launch points for attacks or ambushes.

During the operation, security personnel ensured the careful handling and removal of hazardous materials.

Officials highlighted that the success of this operation was due to accurate intelligence and effective collaboration between the ITBP unit and local police.

Ongoing efforts are being made to maintain control over the area, with continued search operations aimed at dismantling the remaining Naxal infrastructure and reducing their influence. Authorities are committed to restoring normalcy and security for local communities that have long been affected by the conflict.
