Firefighters Respond to Industrial Fire


In South Gate, firefighters are currently engaged in combating a significant industrial fire that ignited on Sunday afternoon, producing thick black smoke that ascended into the sky. Aerial footage captured by AIR7 revealed a substantial smoke plume visible from considerable distances as emergency crews worked diligently to control the situation. The Los Angeles County Fire Department reported that the incident had escalated to a two-alarm response.


The fire was first reported shortly after 2:10 p.m. in the 11800 block of Industrial Avenue, affecting a commercial building measuring 75 feet by 75 feet, according to LACoFD firefighters speaking to CBS LA.



Aerial views depicted a large cloud of black smoke billowing from the site, with flames consuming what seemed to be salvaged automotive parts. Firefighters utilized extended ladders to tackle the fire from above. The affected property, identified as SSSJJ Auto Service, is situated amidst other businesses and numerous residences. It remains uncertain whether any adjacent structures have been damaged due to the fire.
