Major Incident Averted in Jammu and Kashmir Thanks to Local Vigilance
Local Cooperation Prevents Disaster
In Jammu and Kashmir, a significant incident was averted due to the alertness of security forces and the cooperation of local residents. On Tuesday, two mortar shells and a grenade were discovered at three different locations in the Rajouri and Jammu districts. Security agencies, along with the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), acted promptly to safely neutralize all live explosives without any harm.
According to officials, villagers in the Kandi area of Kotranaka, Rajouri, spotted a mortar shell and promptly notified the police. Upon receiving the information, a police team quickly arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area.
The Bomb Disposal Squad was called in for a technical assessment. Authorities reported that the shell was safely destroyed following standard safety protocols. As a precaution, local movement was restricted during the operation.
In another incident, a grenade was found in the fields of the Darhal area in Rajouri on Tuesday evening. Security forces immediately responded to the report, securing the area to ensure public safety. The grenade was later safely disposed of by the security forces.
Additionally, an old and rusted mortar shell was recovered from a field near the international border in the Suchhetgarh area of Jammu district on the same day. This shell was also neutralized without incident.

Officials have commended the role of local residents in this operation, as their timely reporting of the explosives helped avert potential disasters. Thanks to the effective coordination between security forces and the Bomb Disposal Squad, there were no casualties or damage in any of the incidents. As a precautionary measure, search operations and vigilance have been intensified in the area.
