Major Flight Cancellations Amid Israel-Iran Conflict Impacting International Travel

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran has led to significant disruptions in international air travel, with major Indian airlines like Air India, IndiGo, and Akasa Air canceling flights to and from the Middle East. Air India has extended its flight suspensions until March 2, 2026, while IndiGo and Akasa Air have issued travel advisories to ensure passenger safety. International Air Travel Disrupted

The intense conflict between Israel and Iran has severely disrupted international air travel. Following security concerns, many countries in West Asia have closed their airspace, leading to significant cancellations and diversions of flights by major Indian airlines.


Air India Cancels Flights

Air India has announced the cancellation of several international flights for the second consecutive day on March 2. The airline stated that it has extended the suspension of all flights to and from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Qatar until 11:59 PM IST on March 2, 2026. Additionally, six flights to Europe were also canceled on Monday. The affected flights include:

Air India confirmed that its flights to North America and Europe will continue as scheduled but will take alternative routes due to the airspace restrictions in the Middle East, which may result in longer travel times.


IndiGo's Travel Advisory

IndiGo has issued a travel advisory reassuring passengers about their safety as many Middle Eastern countries have closed their airspace due to ongoing geopolitical tensions. The airline stated that if flights operating through Middle Eastern airspace are affected, passengers will be notified directly via their contact details. IndiGo encouraged travelers to explore alternative options or claim refunds through their website if they face significant disruptions.


Akasa Air Suspends Flights

In light of the evolving situation in the Middle East, Akasa Air has suspended flights to and from Abu Dhabi, Doha, Jeddah, Kuwait, and Riyadh until March 2. An official statement emphasized their commitment to safety and responsible operations, noting that passengers with bookings affected until March 7 can opt for a full refund or rescheduling without extra charges.


SpiceJet and Air India Express Updates

SpiceJet has canceled several international flights due to ongoing airspace restrictions and advised passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport. Similarly, Air India Express has extended the suspension of flights to Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE until March 2, 2026. A spokesperson mentioned that affected guests are being informed directly through their registered contact details and offered options for rescheduling or refunds.
