Major Drug Bust in Bhadohi: Police Seize 378 Kilograms of Illegal Cannabis

In a significant operation, police in Bhadohi district seized 378 kilograms of illegal cannabis valued at over 8 million rupees. The bust occurred during a routine vehicle inspection on National Highway 19, leading to the arrest of a trafficker. Initial investigations revealed that the drugs were transported from Odisha by associates from Etah district. This operation highlights ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
 

Significant Drug Seizure in Bhadohi District

On Tuesday evening, law enforcement in the Gopiganj area of Bhadohi district intercepted a truck on the national highway, leading to the recovery of 378 kilograms of illegal cannabis and the arrest of one trafficker. A police official provided this information.


The estimated value of the seized cannabis exceeds 8 million rupees. According to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shubham Agarwal, the truck was stopped for inspection near a roadside eatery on National Highway 19, where authorities discovered several bags containing the illicit substance.


Agarwal reported that the total value of the confiscated cannabis amounts to 8.1 million rupees. He also mentioned that a case has been registered against five individuals, including the truck driver, Son Pal, under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.


During initial questioning, Son Pal revealed that the cannabis was brought from Odisha by his associates, Salim and Chaman Khan, who are residents of Etah district.
