Major Drug Bust in Assam: Two Arrested with ₹2 Crore Worth of Yaba
Significant Drug Seizure in Assam
In a significant operation in the Shribhoomi district of Assam, authorities have confiscated narcotics valued at ₹2 crore, leading to the arrest of two individuals. This information was disclosed by the Chief Minister of the state, Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Monday.
The Chief Minister revealed that law enforcement officials recovered 10,000 yaba tablets from the suspects. He took to the social media platform 'X' to share this update and congratulated the district police for their success in apprehending the alleged drug traffickers.
Yaba, which translates to 'crazy medicine' in Thai, is illegal in India due to its composition of methamphetamine (a Schedule II substance under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) and caffeine.
