Major Developments at Ram Temple Trust: Resignations and Investigation Updates
Crucial Meeting Scheduled Amid Controversy
Ayodhya: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is set to convene an important meeting on Monday afternoon, focusing on the ongoing investigation into the alleged misappropriation of temple donations. This comes in the wake of the resignations of general secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra.
The meeting is slated for 3 PM at the guest house within the Ram Janmabhoomi complex. It aims to assess the Special Investigation Team's (SIT) findings regarding the donation theft, discuss the implications of Rai and Mishra's resignations, and consider new appointments if their resignations are accepted.
In light of the situation, extensive security measures have been implemented, with additional police forces stationed along routes leading to the temple complex. The meeting venue was moved from Mani Ram Das Chhawani to the temple complex for security reasons.
Trust president Nritya Gopal Das, who was recently discharged from a hospital in Lucknow, is expected to participate in the meeting via video conference from his residence.
Sources indicate that Union government secretary Prashant Lokhande and Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad will also join the meeting virtually.
However, it has been reported that Nripendra Mishra, chairman of the Ram Temple Construction Committee, will not be present.
An SIT was established on June 13 to investigate the alleged theft of donations, and it submitted a preliminary report to the state government on June 23, which led to an FIR and the arrest of eight individuals.
Investigators have also retrieved deleted CCTV footage that purportedly shows the accused hiding currency notes while exiting the temple premises.
Although no FIR has been filed against Rai, Mishra, or special invitee Gopal Rao, lawyers from the Faizabad Bar Association have lodged a written complaint requesting an FIR against them. It remains uncertain whether the three individuals will attend the meeting.
The trust is anticipated to evaluate the investigation's progress during this meeting.
