Major Crackdown on Adulterated Paneer in Mathura

This action follows complaints of food adulteration and aims to ensure food safety. The department has seized additional products and sent samples for testing, while an FIR has been filed against the factory operator. The ongoing investigation seeks to trace the distribution of the adulterated products and identify other individuals involved. Food Safety Department's Action in Mathura


In a significant operation, the Food Safety Department in Mathura has taken action against adulterated paneer. During a raid at a paneer manufacturing unit in the village of Husseini, located in the Chhata area, authorities discovered approximately 500 kilograms of contaminated paneer, which was subsequently destroyed. Several suspicious materials used in the paneer production were also seized.


Details of the Raid

The Food Safety and Drug Administration team conducted the raid following complaints of adulteration and ongoing campaigns against such practices. During the investigation, officials found various questionable ingredients used in the paneer production, including refined soybean/palm oil, skimmed milk powder, and tinopal.


Destruction of Contaminated Products

According to officials, around 500 kilograms of prepared paneer, valued at approximately ₹1.05 lakh, was found and deemed contaminated, leading to its destruction. Additionally, about 2,000 liters of milk, estimated to be worth ₹1.25 lakh, was also seized. Samples of the food items have been sent for laboratory testing.


Suspicious Materials Found

During the raid, the team uncovered refined oil, tinopal, sodium hydrosulfite, and other materials. Authorities suspect these substances were used to alter the paneer's composition. However, the exact quantities and methods of use will only be confirmed after the investigation report is released.


Samples Sent for Testing

The Food Safety Department collected a total of nine samples of paneer, milk, and various ingredients used in the production process for testing at a government laboratory. Further actions will be taken based on the lab reports in accordance with food safety laws.


FIR Filed and Ongoing Investigation

Following the operation, an FIR has been lodged against the factory operator. The administration is now working to trace the distribution of the adulterated paneer and identify other individuals involved in this operation. Officials have stated that the campaign against adulterated food products will continue.


Previous Actions Against Adulteration

In recent times, there have been several actions against food adulteration in Mathura. Previously, the food department had also acted against sweet shops and warehouses in Vrindavan, destroying large quantities of suspicious pedas and milk cakes.
