Significant Arrests in Punjab Province
Lahore: In a significant operation, authorities in Pakistan's Punjab province apprehended 21 individuals suspected of terrorism, primarily associated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), as reported by police on Saturday.
The Punjab Police's Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) revealed that over 200 intelligence-driven operations were executed throughout the province, leading to these arrests.
The majority of those detained were found to have connections to the TTP, while others were linked to the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and various other outlawed groups.
Among the notable arrests was a dangerous TTP operative named Pir Shams, captured in Lahore, alongside Abdul Latif from the BLA, who was taken into custody in Toba Tek Singh with explosive materials.
The CTD reported the seizure of 6,330 grams of explosives, 17 detonators, 39 feet of safety fuse wire, one improvised explosive device (IED), and prohibited literature from the suspects.
Authorities indicated that these individuals were plotting attacks at multiple sites, and 21 cases have been filed against them, with ongoing investigations.
