Historic Achievement for Indian Skeet Shooting Team

Maheshwari Chauhan, an Indian skeet shooter, expressed her joy after clinching the bronze medal in the women's skeet team event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026. She emphasized that this podium finish was a testament to the team's collective effort, especially under challenging circumstances.

Reflecting on the Medal Win

In a post-competition interview, Maheshwari shared her feelings about the team's performance. "We are thrilled to return with a medal, although we had hoped for a higher placement. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of this team that achieved this milestone. Despite the tough conditions and the challenging range, we managed to secure a podium finish. While we may not be entirely satisfied with the medal's color, we are definitely happy to bring home a medal," she stated.

Confidence in Future Performances

Maheshwari expressed her confidence in the Indian shooting contingent's ability to secure more medals in the ongoing Asian Games. She noted, "I firmly believe that our shooting team is among the strongest. Winning and losing are part of the sport, but with our experienced athletes, we have a solid chance of achieving more success. We are committed to giving our best, and I believe that our best is sufficient to win medals."

Acknowledging Support from SAI

Discussing the support from the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Maheshwari highlighted the importance of funding and facilities for the advancement of shotgun shooting in India. "SAI has provided incredible support. The funding and resources available are greatly appreciated, especially for a sport like shotgun shooting, which can be quite costly and difficult to access without proper backing," she remarked.

"The progress we see in shotgun shooting today is due to the right guidance and foundational support, which has enabled us to achieve these medals," she added.

Event Results and Scores

The Indian women's skeet team, consisting of Raiza Dhillon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal, and Maheshwari Chauhan, secured the bronze medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026. The trio achieved a combined score of 331 in the women's skeet team event.

Both Raiza Dhillon and Parinaaz Dhaliwal scored 111 out of 125, while Maheshwari Chauhan contributed 109 points to the team's total. China took home the gold medal with a score of 346, and Kazakhstan earned the silver.
