Mahatma Gandhi NREGA Meeting Focuses on Timely Bill Payments and Community Work

In Jaipur, Commissioner Pushpa Satyani held a virtual meeting with all district council CEOs on Thursday. The session focused on the effective implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and involved a thorough review of ongoing projects.
During the meeting, the Commissioner emphasized the need to increase labor deployment in rural areas. She instructed that at least one community project should be initiated in every gram panchayat and directed job cardholders seeking work to be provided with employment in the upcoming fortnight.
The Commissioner also highlighted the necessity for disciplinary action against development officers of panchayat samitis that fail to achieve expected progress, along with regular reviews of project advancements.
In reviewing the financial allocations for the fiscal year 2026-27 under MGNREGA, which amounts to ₹735 crore for material costs, she mandated that all pending bills be processed for payment by July 10. Failure to meet this deadline would result in disciplinary measures against the responsible personnel.
