Firm Stance Against Hooliganism

On Friday, Devendra Fadnavis, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, issued a strong warning against any form of violence disguised as pride in the Marathi language. He emphasized that while it is commendable to take pride in Marathi, the government will not accept any acts of violence associated with it.

Fadnavis stated, "Being proud of the Marathi language is perfectly acceptable in Maharashtra. However, if anyone resorts to hooliganism based on language, we will not stand for it. Any incidents of violence against individuals due to language differences will be met with strict consequences. The police have already registered a case and taken necessary actions regarding recent events. Should such language-related disputes arise again, we will pursue legal measures. While we cherish our Marathi identity, we must also respect all languages spoken in India. It is perplexing that some individuals who advocate for Marathi also embrace English while creating conflicts over Hindi. This mindset is concerning, and we will ensure that those who take the law into their own hands face severe repercussions."
