Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Questions BJP's Reaction to Raj Thackeray's Critique of Adani

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has raised questions about the BJP's strong reaction to Raj Thackeray's criticism of Gautam Adani during the municipal elections campaign. Thackeray accused the government of favoring Adani's group since 2014, leading MNS leaders to express concerns over monopolistic practices in the industry. In a counter-response, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis defended the development of the Navi Mumbai International Airport, stating it was a long-planned initiative aimed at reducing congestion at the Mumbai airport. This political exchange highlights ongoing tensions in Maharashtra's political landscape.

MNS Raises Concerns Over BJP's Sensitivity

On Tuesday, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) expressed its confusion regarding the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) strong reaction to party president Raj Thackeray's comments targeting industrialist Gautam Adani during the municipal elections campaign.

Thackeray had alleged on Sunday that properties in Mumbai and Maharashtra were being handed over to the Adani-led group. He further claimed that since the BJP came to power in 2014, the government has consistently favored the Adani group.

An MNS leader stated to reporters, 'Why is the BJP so offended by Raj Thackeray's questions about Adani? We object to the fact that projects are being forcibly handed over to Adani at the expense of other industrialists. We are not against industrialists; there should be no monopoly, and all should have equal opportunities.'

CM Devendra Fadnavis Responds to Thackeray's Remarks

In response to Thackeray's statements, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis remarked on Monday that the proposal for the Navi Mumbai International Airport, developed by CIDCO and the Adani group, was initiated years ago to alleviate congestion at the Mumbai airport and has been completed within five years.
