Chief Minister's Commitment to Dharavi Redevelopment

Devendra Fadnavis, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, announced that the state government will request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lay the foundation stone for the Dharavi slum redevelopment project in Mumbai.

During a press interaction on Saturday evening, Fadnavis emphasized his administration's dedication to the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP), assuring that all eligible individuals will receive homes measuring 350 square feet.

He stated, 'We will ask Prime Minister Modi to inaugurate the foundation stone for the Dharavi redevelopment project.'

Last year, the first eligibility list for this initiative was released, revealing that over 75% of property owners qualified for new homes under this ambitious slum redevelopment scheme.

According to data released by the DRP, all genuine residents who settled in Dharavi before January 1, 2000, are eligible for a 350 square foot flat within the area. These residents will qualify for rehabilitation as long as they provide the necessary documentation.

Residents who moved in between January 1, 2000, and January 1, 2011, may be offered 300 square foot flats in alternative locations outside Dharavi.

However, this ambitious project is facing opposition from the Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and some local residents.
