On Sunday, Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that councillors who assist beneficiaries of the Ladki Bahin scheme in becoming Lakhpati Didis will be rewarded with significant positions within the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC).
The Ladki Bahin initiative provides women with a monthly support of ₹1,500, while the Lakhpati Didi program, launched by the central government, aims to elevate the annual income of women in self-help groups to at least ₹1 lakh.
Addressing a rally in Nashik ahead of the municipal elections scheduled for January 15, the Chief Minister emphasized that the Lakhpati Didi scheme, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will offer important responsibilities to those who successfully transition Ladki Bahin beneficiaries into Lakhpati Didis.
Fadnavis also outlined development plans for Nashik, announcing the installation of 4,000 AI-powered CCTV cameras to enhance city security.
He expressed a commitment to transforming Nashik into a smart and modern city by establishing an IT park and an electric mobility hub. Additionally, he revealed projects worth ₹27,000 crore and a ₹12,000 crore investment from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), along with a recommendation to the central government for creating an aviation-related defense corridor in Nashik.
