Maharashtra BJP Confident of Winning Local Body Elections

BJP's Optimism in Local Elections

The President of the Maharashtra Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Ravindra Chavan, expressed confidence on Thursday that the ruling Mahayuti party will secure victories in 29 local bodies across the state. After casting his vote, he emphasized the "development agenda" of the BJP and Shiv Sena while speaking to the media. Chavan stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, they have campaigned on a development platform and are certain that mayors will be elected from the Mahayuti party in these municipalities.


 


Shiv Sena's Response to Opposition


Chavan cast his vote at the Joshi School polling center. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena candidate Priya Sarvankar criticized the opposition, claiming they are promoting a "brother-brother agenda" in Maharashtra's local elections, while her party and the BJP are focused on development. She asserted that both Shiv Sena and BJP are committed to the development agenda, and she believes all Mumbai residents will vote in favor of it.


 


Confidence in Victory


Sarvankar expressed strong belief in the Mahayuti's success in the elections, stating, "The mayor will definitely be from our alliance." Voting for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the richest municipal corporation in India, commenced on Thursday morning. Hundreds of voters lined up to elect 277 new ward members after an eight-year gap. Voting began at 7:30 AM, with people queuing at their respective polling stations. A total of 1,700 candidates are contesting in Mumbai.
