Maharashtra ATS Detains Thane Resident for Alleged Espionage Linked to Pakistan
Arrest of Thane Man for Alleged Spying
On Thursday, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra Police apprehended a man in Thane on charges of espionage for Pakistan.
An official revealed that the individual was employed by a significant organization and fell victim to a honey trap orchestrated by a female Pakistani agent who connected with him via Facebook.
The official noted that the man's identity remains undisclosed. He reportedly transmitted sensitive information regarding a vital installation to the Pakistani intelligence operative between November 2024 and March 2025.
Following intelligence inputs, the ATS arrested him along with two accomplices in relation to the case. His arrest was made after preliminary questioning under Section 3 of the Official Secrets Act.
Rajasthan Government Employee Questioned for Spying Allegations
On May 28, a government employee from Rajasthan was taken in for questioning over suspicions of espionage for Pakistan, as reported by sources in the Rajasthan Police. The employee had traveled to Pakistan without notifying his department and is stationed in Jaisalmer.
It is believed that he may have political connections in the area. Police officials are currently interrogating him, and details regarding his identity and the purpose of his visit remain unverified.
In light of ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, several individuals have been detained recently on similar espionage charges.
Jyoti Malhotra's Arrest Linked to Espionage Activities
Previously, Jyoti Malhotra, a resident of Hisar, Haryana, was arrested for allegedly sharing sensitive information and maintaining contact with a Pakistani national.
She is accused of passing information to the Pakistani side and reportedly met a Pakistani officer named Ahsan-ur-Rahim in Delhi, traveling to Pakistan twice to share classified details.
During the initial investigation, Malhotra informed the police that she visited the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi in 2023 to apply for a visa, where she met Ahsan-ur-Rahim, also known as Danish.
