Madras High Court Halts NEET-UG 2025 Results Due to Power Outage Claims
Court Issues Interim Stay on NEET-UG Results
The Madras High Court has issued an interim order preventing the announcement of NEET-UG 2025 results. This decision follows complaints from several students at a Chennai examination center who reported disruptions caused by a power outage during the test.
Power Disruption During the Exam
Students filed a petition stating that heavy rainfall and a storm led to a power failure at the PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya CRPF-Avadi center from 3 PM to 4:15 PM on May 4. They noted that the center lacked backup power sources like generators or inverters.
Participation in NEET UG 2025
According to the Ministry of Education, more than 20.8 lakh candidates participated in the NEET UG 2025 exam, which took place in 548 cities across India and 14 international locations. Sources confirmed that the examination proceeded without major incidents, with only minor issues such as late arrivals and confusion regarding dress codes reported.
NTA's Coordinated Approach
The National Testing Agency (NTA), which oversees the medical entrance examination, implemented a comprehensive 'whole-of-government' strategy to ensure the exam's integrity and security. A Centralised Control Room was set up under the Ministry of Education, coordinating efforts with officials from various ministries, including Health, Home Affairs, Defence, and Electronics & IT, to monitor real-time developments alongside local authorities and police.
