Jabalpur/Bhopal, Sep 15: The Madhya Pradesh High Court has decided not to provide immediate relief to Giribala Singh, a former district judge currently incarcerated in connection with the death of her daughter-in-law, model-actress Twisha Sharma. The court has postponed the consideration of her bail request.

The court has requested a response from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding Giribala Singh's bail application, allowing the agency a week to submit its reply.

The case is scheduled for a hearing next week.

During the session, Justice Ajay Kumar Nirankari presided over the arguments presented by both parties.

Senior advocate Surendra Singh, representing Giribala Singh, argued for bail based on her age and health status. The defense contended that she had not engaged in any actions that would implicate her in the alleged crime and that there was no evidence indicating she had encouraged her daughter-in-law to take her own life.

The defense also assured the court of Giribala Singh's willingness to cooperate fully with the investigation and adhere to any conditions set by the court if bail were granted.

The CBI requested an additional week to respond to the bail application, expressing the need to present the case diary to the court. The agency has also submitted its objections to the bail request, as noted by the defense attorney.

Following the arguments, the court granted the CBI the requested time to prepare its response and scheduled the next hearing for a week later.

Giribala Singh will remain in custody until the next court date.

Twisha Sharma was found dead under questionable circumstances at her in-laws' home in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal on May 12, with her family alleging foul play.

The CBI, which is investigating the case, submitted a comprehensive 636-page charge sheet in August against Twisha's husband, Samarth Singh, and Giribala Singh.

The upcoming hearing in the High Court is anticipated to concentrate on the CBI's response and the case diary before addressing the bail application, according to advocate Anurag Panday, who represents Twisha's family in court.
