Judicial Proceedings in Goa

On Wednesday, the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court in Mapusa, Goa, ordered the remand of brothers Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra to police custody for five days in connection with the tragic nightclub fire incident. Earlier in the day, the court in North Goa mandated a medical examination for the co-owners of the 'Burch by Romeo Lane' nightclub, following their presentation in court. After undergoing health checks, the Luthra brothers were brought before the court. They were extradited from Thailand to Goa this morning, following the fire that claimed 25 lives on December 6.

Medical Examination and Court Appearance

The court instructed that the accused undergo another medical examination. Consequently, both brothers were taken back to the district hospital. A team from Goa Police arrived at the Mopa International Airport in North Goa with the Luthra brothers at 10:45 AM. Initially, they were taken to a primary health center in Siolim for medical checks before being transferred to the district hospital in Mapusa.

Arrest and Charges

Following their health assessments, the brothers were transported to the Anjuna police station, located about 10 kilometers away. After more than an hour of medical testing, they were presented in court. The Anjuna police had filed charges against the Luthra brothers, including involuntary manslaughter, in relation to the tragic fire incident that occurred in the village of Arpora.

Extradition and Arrest in Delhi

Upon their extradition from Thailand, the Luthra brothers were arrested immediately after arriving in Delhi on Tuesday. A local court granted Goa police a two-day transit remand for them. The brothers had fled to Phuket, Thailand, just hours after the fire at their nightclub on December 7, prompting authorities to issue an Interpol Blue Corner notice and revoke their passports.
