LSG's Roller-Coaster Batting Performance

In their IPL 2026 match at Chepauk, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) delivered a dramatic batting performance after being invited to bat first by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). They started strong but lost momentum mid-innings, ultimately setting a competitive score.

Inglis' Explosive Start Sets the Tone

LSG began their innings with a bang, immediately putting pressure on the CSK bowlers. Josh Inglis was instrumental, scoring 16 runs in the first over bowled by Akeal Hosein. By the end of the third over, LSG had raced to 40 runs without losing a wicket, with Inglis leading the aggressive charge.

The team reached the 50-run mark in the fourth over, marking their joint-fastest fifty in IPL history. Their previous record for the quickest half-century was achieved against CSK in 2023 in just 3.4 overs.

Inglis reached his half-century in a mere 17 balls, making it the third-fastest fifty for Lucknow in IPL history and the fastest ever at Chepauk.

CSK's Counterattack After Powerplay

CSK's Anshul Kamboj provided a crucial breakthrough by dismissing opener Mitchell Marsh for just 10 runs, breaking the 77-run partnership for the first wicket.

After six overs, LSG stood at 91/1, but the tide turned when Noor Ahmad dismissed Nicholas Pooran for just one run.

The situation worsened for LSG as Jamie Overton took out the explosive Josh Inglis, who scored 85 off 33 balls, and captain Rishabh Pant for 15 runs. By the end of the 10th over, LSG had fallen to 117/4 after a strong start.

Innings Unravels Amidst Wickets

Aiden Markram's run-out for just six runs in the 13th over further hindered LSG's momentum after their explosive start.

The pressure mounted as Jamie Overton struck again in the 15th over, sending Akshat Raghuwanshi back for 18 runs. LSG found themselves at 147/6, having lost control after a promising beginning.

Late Surge Secures Competitive Total

By the end of the 17th over, LSG managed to reach 167/6.

In the final overs, Himmat Singh contributed 17 runs off 12 balls, while Shahbaz Ahmed remained unbeaten with 43 runs off 25 balls, helping LSG to finish at 203/8 in their 20 overs.

For CSK, Jamie Overton was the standout bowler with figures of 3/36, supported by Anshul Kamboj with 2/47 and Noor Ahmad with 1/24.
