Imphal, May 3: A low-intensity explosion occurred near a crematorium adjacent to the new cargo terminal of Imphal International Airport in Malom, Imphal West district, on Sunday, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Initial reports indicate that the blast took place at approximately 11:55 am near the airport's perimeter at Malom Tuliyaima, situated between the cargo terminal and a Territorial Army camp under the jurisdiction of Singamei Police Station.

Security personnel quickly responded to the incident, securing the area and initiating an investigation to identify those responsible.
“We are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity. Initial assessments indicate that an unidentified individual arrived on a blue Activa scooter. Thankfully, there have been no reported injuries, and it is premature to provide further details,” stated a security official.
Authorities are analyzing surveillance recordings from surrounding areas to pinpoint the suspect and reconstruct the timeline of events.
