Historic Victory for Lovlina Borgohain

Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain achieved a remarkable milestone by winning her first Asian Games Gold medal in the women's 75kg category, triumphing over China's Bao Ziyi on October 2 in Aichi-Nagoya.

Borgohain's victory marked India's inaugural gold in boxing at the Asian Games, as she secured a decisive 5-0 unanimous decision against her opponent. She advanced through the rounds with byes in the round of 32 and 16, before defeating Suyeon Seong from South Korea and Natalya Bogdanova from Kazakhstan in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively.

This achievement makes Lovlina the first Indian female boxer to clinch an Asian Games gold since the iconic MC Mary Kom in 2014, ending a 12-year wait for a gold medal in women's boxing at this prestigious event.

A Birthday to Remember

A Champion's Journey

Since earning her first international medal, a bronze at the President’s Cup in 2017, Lovlina has established herself as a formidable force in Indian boxing. Her accolades include an Olympic bronze, a World Championship gold, an Asian Championship gold, and now, the prestigious Asian Games gold medal.

Additionally, she recently secured a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, further enhancing her impressive collection of achievements.
