Lok Sabha Passes Thank You Motion Without PM Modi's Response Amidst Opposition Chaos

In a surprising development, the Lok Sabha passed a motion of thanks for the President's address without Prime Minister Narendra Modi's traditional response. The session was marred by disruptions from opposition members, leading to the Speaker adjourning the house. Suspended Congress MP Manickam Tagore criticized the proceedings, stating that the opposition would not allow Modi to speak until their leader, Rahul Gandhi, was given a chance to express his views. This incident raises questions about the state of parliamentary democracy and the participation of opposition voices in legislative discussions.

Unprecedented Developments in Lok Sabha

In a remarkable turn of events, the Lok Sabha approved a motion of thanks for the President's address on Thursday without receiving a traditional response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sources indicate that the Congress party was planning a physical confrontation against Modi in the lower house, with female MPs allegedly sent in as a cover. Despite the Prime Minister being present and available to address the Lok Sabha, the Speaker decided to adjourn the session.

This morning, the proceedings of the lower house were repeatedly disrupted by shouting from opposition members. In the midst of this, Speaker Om Birla conducted a voice vote, leading to the motion being passed without the Prime Minister's address. There were expectations for Modi to respond to the motion of thanks for the President's address yesterday, but due to continuous disruptions and shouting from opposition members, the Speaker chose to suspend the session. Today, there are expectations for the Prime Minister to speak on the motion of thanks in the Rajya Sabha.

Meanwhile, suspended Congress MP Manickam Tagore stated that the opposition would not allow Prime Minister Modi to speak in the house until opposition leader Rahul Gandhi was given the opportunity to express his views. Tagore condemned the Lok Sabha for passing the motion of thanks without allowing the opposition leader to speak. He mentioned to a news agency that he is unaware of the situation in the Rajya Sabha, as he is a suspended Lok Sabha member. He emphasized that they would not permit the Prime Minister to speak until the opposition leader was allowed to do so.

In response to the official statement from the Lok Sabha, Tagore criticized the Parliament for only allowing BJP members to speak, thereby limiting the opposition's participation. He remarked that it was a regrettable day for parliamentary democracy in the Lok Sabha. During the discussion on the motion of thanks for the President's address, opposition leaders were repeatedly denied the opportunity to speak, and the opposition leader was not allowed to present the views of millions of Indians, while only members of the ruling party dominated the proceedings.
