New Delhi, July 20: The Lok Sabha was suspended for the third time on Monday, with proceedings halted until 1 p.m. due to ongoing protests from the Opposition, who were vocal and displayed protest banners.

Chairman Dilip Saikia attempted to restore order in the House, but the noise persisted.

Saikia urged members to take their seats to allow the Lok Sabha to operate effectively and to address "important issues" during Zero Hour.

He expressed concern, stating, "This behavior is detrimental to democracy... Do you not wish for the House to function?" However, the Opposition continued their protests, leading to another adjournment.

The session was initially postponed until noon, but after reconvening, it lasted only seven minutes before being adjourned again due to the uproar from the Opposition, this time until 12:30 p.m.

Earlier, Speaker Om Birla commenced the session by honoring former MPs who had passed away.

Following this, the Opposition began their protests, causing disorder in the House.

Speaker Birla emphasized the need for maintaining peace, stating, "Parliament is the highest forum of democracy, and time will be allocated for everyone to speak."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking to the media at the start of the Monsoon Session, highlighted the importance of experienced parliamentarians in navigating global uncertainties and ensuring effective discussions in Parliament.

He urged parliamentarians to engage in constructive debates, ensuring that "every voice is given a chance to be heard."

"When arguments are well-founded, messages can be conveyed effectively, even calmly. I hope the discussions in the House will reflect this reasoning. Every voice deserves to be acknowledged, and every idea should be respected. I encourage all Members of Parliament to participate actively in the House's proceedings," he concluded.
