Lionel Messi Returns to Football After Father's Passing
Messi's Emotional Comeback
MIAMI: In a deeply emotional moment, Argentine football icon Lionel Messi made his return to the pitch just four days following the tragic death of his father, Jorge Messi.
He participated in a vital Leagues Cup match for Inter Miami against the Mexican team León on August 12. This unexpected comeback occurred shortly after Messi shared his uncertainties about his football career on social media.
Jorge Messi, who was also Lionel's agent, passed away at the age of 68 on August 8 after battling a prolonged illness. Following the funeral held at a private cemetery in Rosario, Messi returned to Miami and started the match on the bench.
He entered the game as a substitute in the second half and played until the final whistle, but sadly, Inter Miami lost 3-2. This match was crucial for Miami's chances to progress in the tournament, especially after their earlier defeat to Monterrey.

In a heartfelt tribute to his father, the 39-year-old Messi expressed, "I don't know what I'll do without you. I don't know how to move forward. I've only ever played football, and I have serious doubts about how long I'll continue this."
Messi fondly remembered his father as his mentor, agent, and friend from his early days playing football in the streets of Rosario. His return to the field amidst such a profound personal loss has touched the hearts of fans and the global football community.
