Lift Incident at Noida Banquet Hall

During an event held on Thursday night at a banquet hall in Sector 51, Noida, a lift unexpectedly plummeted, leading to chaos as several individuals became trapped inside. Upon receiving the alert, police arrived promptly and managed to rescue everyone safely. The event was attended by notable figures including Satish Mahana, the Speaker of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, former Union Minister and Gautam Buddh Nagar MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma, and MLA Pankaj Singh, along with other senior leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Legal Action Taken Against Banquet Hall Operators

In connection with the incident, a case has been filed against three individuals, including the banquet hall operator, on Friday. Inspector Gram Prasad Sharma from Sector 49 police station reported that the Uttar Pradesh Youth Trade Association organized the 'Fifth Trader Welfare Day' event at the Wedding Villa banquet hall. Given the presence of dignitaries, police personnel were deployed at the venue.

Details of the Lift Incident

After the event concluded, some attendees were using the lift to descend from the upper floor when it suddenly fell, trapping several individuals inside. The police quickly arrived at the scene and used the emergency key to open the lift, ensuring everyone was evacuated safely.

Injuries and Investigation

A few individuals sustained minor injuries during the incident. Sharma indicated that a complaint from Ashu Chaudhary, the in-charge of Sector 51 police station, led to the filing of a case against Vinod Arora, the operator of Wedding Villa banquet hall, and manager Ashwini Sharma under Section 289 of the Indian Penal Code. Preliminary investigations revealed that the lift had not undergone regular maintenance, and there was no lift attendant present.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities have classified this as a serious case of negligence that could have resulted in a major accident. The investigation is ongoing. Event organizer Vikas Jain mentioned that prior to the incident, the assembly speaker, MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma, and MLA Pankaj Singh had already left the program.
