Life Imprisonment for Man Convicted of Rape in Bareilly District
Court Sentences Rapist to Life Imprisonment
A special court in Bareilly has sentenced a man to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of raping a minor girl. The court also imposed a fine of ₹27,000 on the accused, as reported by a local lawyer.
Special Public Prosecutor Rajeev Tiwari stated that the special judge under the POCSO Act, Devashish Pandey, delivered the verdict against the accused, Amir Hussain, aged 24. In addition to the life sentence, the court mandated that failure to pay the fine would result in an additional six months of imprisonment.
Tiwari further explained that the victim's mother had lodged a complaint with the police, alleging that Amir Hussain, a resident of Bithri Chainpur, had been visiting their home and had raped her daughter in 2022. The police from the Izzatnagar station in Bareilly subsequently registered a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the incident.
