In an effort to enhance experiential learning, students from the Department of Law at the Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) recently visited the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Kangra, located in Dharamshala.

During this educational excursion, the students had the opportunity to observe live court proceedings, which provided them with practical insights into the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, the process of filing complaints, and the various methods of resolving disputes. This experience allowed them to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world judicial practices, enhancing their understanding of consumer rights and the law's societal role.

The students engaged with Commission President Himanshu Mishra, along with Member Narayan Thakur and Member Aarti Sood, who offered valuable perspectives on the Commission's operations and the intricacies of consumer protection.

Also present were Senior Advocate and President of the Kangra District Bar Association Ankur Soni, Senior Advocate Vinay Sharma, Dean Prof. (Dr.) Surya Rashmi Rawat, Head of Department Dr. Kuldeep Chand, Dr. Girijanand, and Ms. Kalyani Acharya.

Dean Prof. (Dr.) Surya Rashmi Rawat expressed appreciation to the Commission for facilitating such a valuable practical learning opportunity for the students. Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) S.P. Bansal commended the Department of Law for this initiative, emphasizing that such programs enhance the University’s connection with the community while fostering legal awareness and access to justice.
