Launch of Monthly Webinar Series to Enhance Public Health Practices in India

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has launched a monthly webinar series aimed at promoting best practices in public health across India. This initiative, part of the National Health Mission, seeks to foster innovation and facilitate the sharing of successful healthcare strategies among states and union territories. With over 500 officials participating in the inaugural session, the series aims to document and disseminate effective practices while encouraging local solutions to emerging health challenges. The National Health Systems Resource Centre will provide technical support to enhance the visibility of these initiatives. This platform promises to strengthen the public health system nationwide.

Introduction of the Webinar Series

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has initiated a monthly webinar series under the National Health Mission (NHM) on Saturday, focusing on 'Best Practices'. This initiative aims to foster innovation, facilitate information sharing among states and union territories, and strengthen the public health system across the nation. Launched in conjunction with World Population Day 2026, this year-long platform is designed to document, share, and implement successful healthcare innovations.

Objectives of the Initiative

The primary goal is to enable states and union territories to share their implementation experiences and adopt scalable methods backed by solid evidence to enhance healthcare services. The inaugural session, attended by over 500 officials from national, state, and district levels, was chaired by Additional Secretary and Mission Director (NHM) Aradhana Patnaik. She emphasized the necessity of innovation for creating responsive and robust public health systems.

Encouraging Innovative Practices

Patnaik described the webinar series as an institutional approach to identify, document, and disseminate new and unique methods emerging from states and union territories, allowing successful models developed in one area to be adopted nationwide. She encouraged states and union territories to propose new solutions that diverge from existing program frameworks and address emerging public health challenges through locally developed methods. She acknowledged that many effective innovations go unrecorded because field teams primarily focus on program implementation.

Support for Documentation and Participation

To address this gap, she mentioned that the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) would provide technical support to document and showcase such initiatives, thereby enhancing the reach of the 'National Summit on Good and Replicable Innovative Practices'. She urged all states and union territories to actively participate in the webinar series to promote continuous learning and the implementation of innovation-based programs.
