Latest ICC ODI Rankings: India Maintains Top Position

The Indian cricket team has successfully retained its top position in the latest ICC Men's ODI Team Rankings, leading by five points over New Zealand. This update is significant as it impacts the qualification for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027, where the top eight teams will secure direct entry. South Africa has climbed to fourth place, while Ireland and the United States have made notable advancements in the lower rankings. ICC ODI Rankings Update: Top 10

In the most recent update of the ICC Men's ODI Team Rankings, the Indian cricket team has successfully held onto the number one position. They currently lead by a narrow margin of five points over New Zealand, who are in second place. India now has 118 rating points, having decreased by one point, while New Zealand stands at 113 points. Australia remains in third place with 109 points.


This annual update considers all matches played since May 2025, while games from the preceding two years are given a 50% weight.


South Africa has ascended to the fourth position with 102 points, surpassing Pakistan, which has dropped to fifth with 98 points.


The remainder of the top ten rankings has not changed, with Sri Lanka in sixth place at 96 points, followed by Afghanistan at 93 points, and England at 89 points. Bangladesh is ninth with 84 points, while the West Indies rounds out the top ten with 74 points, increasing the gap between them from six to ten points after this update.


Race for World Cup 2027 Qualification

These rankings are crucial for the upcoming ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027 qualification. The top eight teams in the ODI rankings as of March 31, 2027, will gain direct entry into the tournament, alongside the automatically qualified hosts, South Africa and Zimbabwe. If South Africa remains within the top eight, the ninth-ranked team may also secure a direct spot in the competition.


Changes in Lower Rankings

In the lower rankings, Ireland has moved ahead of Zimbabwe, now occupying the 11th position with 54 points. The United States national cricket team has climbed to 13th place, surpassing Scotland with 46 points to 44.


Additionally, the United Arab Emirates has improved its ranking, moving to 19th after overtaking Canada with 16 points.
