Lakshya Sen's Remarkable Victory

In a thrilling match at the All England Open 2026, Lakshya Sen of India triumphed over Hong Kong's NG Ka Long Angus, securing his place in the quarterfinals. Despite facing a setback by missing four match points in the second game, Sen dominated the final game to win with scores of 21-19, 21-23, and 21-10, completing the match in one hour and 21 minutes, as reported by the Badminton Association of India (BAI). This victory marks Sen's first win against NG in their four encounters, the last of which took place during the 2023 Malaysia Masters.


A Thrilling Three-Game Match


Sen, who was the finalist at the All England Championship in 2022, started the match with an aggressive approach, maintaining a lead throughout the first game. Although NG managed to tie the score at 19-19 by winning three consecutive points, Sen quickly regained control to clinch the game.


In the second game, Sen initially surged ahead with an 11-4 lead, but NG fought back, saving three consecutive match points at 17-20 and another at 20-21, ultimately taking the game to a decider.


Determined not to miss another chance, Sen took charge early in the final game with powerful cross-court smashes. Although NG saved one match point at 20-9, the lead was insurmountable for him.


Upcoming Challenge


As the sole Indian competitor remaining in singles, Sen will next face the winner of the match between sixth seed Li Shi Feng from China and Ireland's Nhat Nguyen.
